ACTIVITIES
Hacienda Valencia's location offers our guest a large variety of touristic activities. Some require the use of a travel agency, but many can be enjoyed without the need of contracting travel guides etc. Below are just some of the exiting things you can enjoy in this region

Quebrada
Valencia
01
The entrance to Quebrada Valencia is a mere 300 meter walk from our hostel, once there pay a very economic entrance fee, enjoy a relaxing nature walk of 20 minutes and arrive at the falls. There are local artisinanal vendors along the way, and once arrived you have your choice or the lower, and upper falls, and for the more adventurous there is even a spot to climb and jump from about 50 meters high into the deep pool basin. Pack your lunch, buy it from local vendors, spend the morning, afternoon or the entire day, and simply walk back to Hacienda Valencia without the need for trasportation or guides.

02
Day at
the Beach
Our local beach is but 1 km from our hostel, you can enjoy a 20 min walk or request that we drive you closer, then walk the small footpath (300 meters) till you hear the sound of the waves on the shore. This particular beach has no veihicular access so it normally as almost no touristic traffic, some days i encounter some locals some i am the only human presence for my entire stay. This beach is practically virgin, with no structures built on the beach outside of a few offset private hostels. The river from the "Quebrada Valencia" drains into the ocean giving you a delta effect combining the fresh and the salt water. Our guests can enjoy the experience as is or we can supply tents, grill, chairs and a variety of kebobs and cold beverages to fully enjoy the day.
Tayrona National
Park
03
One of the main tourisitc attractions in the area, this national park offers hours of gorgeous (semi-difficult) hiking trails with the bonus of spectacular paradise like beach lagoons at their final destination. Tayrona can be done in one day or in three, with or without a touristic agency or guide, depending on your preferences. For those slightly more physically challenged, you can opt for a horseback ride to arrive at the celestial beaches/lagoons. There are local vendors along the way and traditional colombian restaurants and lodging / camping facilities upon arrival. It is usually considered a 2 hour hike there and back so this would be considered a full day affair, starting early and arriving back at our hostel for dinner. Either way, if you come this far, Tayrona is a must see for travellers to this region.

Ciudad Perdida "The Lost City"
04
Ciudad Perdida is one of those attractions that can only be accessed via a local tourisitic agency. There are various issues regarding the Indigenous population, etc that only permit access through certain venues. The normal trek is a 2 day hike there, and a 2 day hike back but there are many different packages available. Travellers from around the world come here on a regular basis to experience one of the few untouched pieces of colombian indigenous culture that still remain. Links are provided to a touristic agency that I know and trust, feel free to book with whatever you desire.

Day at
Palomino
05
Palomino is a 30 min drive or bus ride from Hacienda Valencia. It has a unique hipster / gringo rasta culture including everything from artisinal arts, herbal medicine to surfing at its beatuful beach. The main strip "sexta" is packed with gringo style hostels, restaurants and artisinal boutiques. One can spen a day visiting the shops and enjoying the beach. For the more courageous, surfing lessons or boat tubing are available. Another must see if you are in this region :-)
